It is a deepfake created by AI. While not very good, it shows what can be done with AI. In this instance, a deepfake of Donald Trump is reciting the I Have a Dream speech by Martin Luther King.
Deepfakes, which are synthetic media created using artificial intelligence, pose several significant risks:
- Disinformation and Fake News: Deepfakes can be used to create convincing but false videos or audio recordings, which can spread misinformation and manipulate public opinion¹². This can have serious implications for political events, elections, and public trust.
- Fraud and Financial Scams: Cybercriminals can use deepfakes to impersonate individuals, such as CEOs or other high-ranking officials, to commit fraud. For example, they might create fake audio messages to trick employees into transferring money or disclosing sensitive information².
- Personal Security and Privacy: Deepfakes can be used to create non-consensual pornography, which disproportionately affects women⁴. This can lead to severe emotional distress and damage to personal reputations.
- Erosion of Trust: The ability to create highly realistic fake media can undermine trust in digital content, making it harder for people to distinguish between real and fake information².
- National Security: Deepfakes can be used in disinformation campaigns to destabilize societies and influence political outcomes, posing a threat to national security².
Efforts to combat these risks include developing detection technologies, enacting legislation to criminalize harmful uses of deepfakes, and promoting public awareness about the potential dangers¹².
